WRMS Weekly Update 6/8/25
Hello West Rocks!
I can’t believe this is our last week of school for the 2024-2025 school year!
Grade 8 students will be promoted tomorrow, Monday June 9! Grades 6 and 7 have a full week of activities with early dismissals for students on Thursday and Friday (12:50pm).
Please be on the lookout for communication from our grade level leaders as there are awards, field days, trips, celebrations, and more!
Grade 8 had an incredible time on their class trip to Quassy on Wednesday! Lots of fun with friends in the sun! The weather was perfect and most students enjoyed the water park. Check out some of the pictures above.
Grade 6 had their field trip to Mystic Aquarium on Tuesday! The sea lion show was the highlight! Check out a few of the pictures!
As we head into the final week of what has been a truly memorable school year, thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s finish strong and celebrate all that our students have accomplished together!
Have a great last week of school,
Adam Reynolds
Principal, West Rocks Middle School

CHROMEBOOK COLLECTION
As we wrap up the school year, all students are required to return their Chromebook and charger on the scheduled collection day. Please note that lost chargers will incur a $15 replacement fee. Devices will be checked by IT for any damages. Fees for damages and/or repairs will be entered into PowerSchool.
Collection Dates:

Grade 7: June 11
-
Grade 6: June 12
Please ensure devices are clean and free of stickers and any markings. There will be an opportunity for students to pick up a device during the summer if one is needed to complete summer learning. Thank you for helping us keep our technology in top shape for all students! Questions can be directed to Dr. Golding at goldings@norwalkps.org
GRADE 8
We had a great time at this year’s Pre-Promotion Party on Friday night! Thank you to all of our parent volunteers for making this night a success. All students were provided with tickets for the raffle with many great prizes…and won them in carnival games! The winners will be drawn live at the end of our final promotion rehearsal on Monday.
Congratulations to the students who received awards this week. A special thank you to all the families who attended the ceremony! Photos of the students and the slideshow can be found here.
We will distribute 3 Promotion tickets to each student at the end of the day (2:30pm) on Monday. Students that are dismissed early will need to return later to pick them up. They will not be given early.
Students that have outstanding balances and obligations will not receive tickets. Those families received the most recent communication on Friday afternoon.
Any questions, please contact Dr. Reynolds directly (reynoldsa@norwalkps.org).
OBLIGATIONS
End-of-Year Obligations
As we approach the end of the school year, please check PowerSchool for any outstanding student obligations. Most obligations are related to field trip balances, Chromebook damages or replacements, and library books. Payments can be made in the Main Office.
Grade 8 families: To ensure there are no delays in receiving Promotion tickets, we kindly ask that all obligations be submitted as soon as possible. Fees can be paid with cash or money order. Personal checks will not be accepted.
Grade 6 and 7 families: Staying current with obligations now helps prevent balances from carrying over into next year. We encourage families to take care of any outstanding items before summer break.
YEARBOOKS
Did Not Get a Yearbook? Luckily we ordered extra and have a few left! $35 cash- just stop by room 188 (Verizon Innovative Learning Lab to purchase one before they are all gone!
A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL NURSE
Medication Pick-Up
If your student has medications kept in the nurse's office they need to be picked up by the end of the school year. Please let the nurse know if you plan to pick them up in person or if you would like the medication sent home with your child. Any controlled medication needs to be picked up by families and signed for. Please know that medications cannot be left at the school over the summer. Any medication that has not been picked up by the last day of school will be disposed of per the Norwalk Public School policy. If you have not contacted the nurse yet please do so to make arrangements for the medication to go home.
For those whose students require mandated physicals for sports physicals, please see attached flyer. Please include in parentsquare communications and principal updates; we have included this in this week's board update. Last summer this was the #1 referral source for families seeking out physicals before the beginning of the school year.
