Hello West Rocks!

Thank you to everyone that came to yesterday's PTA Pizza Truck! The string ensemble and jazz band were fantastic, and the Silver Sands Pizza Truck did not disappoint! A big shout out to our PTA for putting together the event.  

There has been a lot of work done on I-95 - check out the image below! All our Norwalk families have been impacted, so hopefully this means we are close to being back to normal. Please be on the lookout for communications from our district if there are any updates or changes.

This is just in time for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week from May 6-10! We have a lot of special recognitions planned! Please see below for how your student can contribute and share their thanks!

We are rescheduling the Grade 7 Awards for later this week. Miss Sabol will communicate with families soon when the date is confirmed.

Congratulations to the grade 6 and 8 students that were recognized for winning a PAWS award this week! Thank you to the families that were able to come to school and show their support!

PS. This Saturday May 11 is our annual WRMS Clean-up and Planting from 9am-12pm! All family members are encouraged to come! We purchased a few plants and Damato Landscaping will be on site! They are donating and supporting the event! Students can earn service hours.

ACADEMICS, PROGRAMS, AND CAMPAIGNS

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! May 6-10, 2024
In collaboration with our PTA, we will celebrate our teachers and staff all week! Students can take also take a moment to share their gratitude in a thank you note. Feel free to print this template at home and students can deliver to a staff member. There will also be copies in the main office for students to pick-up. The PTA is looking for donations from families. Please visit their Facebook page for more information.

NGSS (Science) Testing for Grade 8 – Tuesday and Wednesday! 
8th grade students will start their NGSS (Science) testing on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 7 & 8). Testing will be in the morning from 8:30 to 10:30am. Please remind your student to charge up their Chromebook the night before and get a good breakfast in the morning.

Grade 8 Class Picture – Panoramic!
Grade 8 families, can you believe it? Tomorrow, Monday May 6 is our class picture. Lifetouch will be at WRMS to take the 8th grade Panoramic Group Picture. Rain date is May 13th. If you would like to purchase a photo, the price is $15 and your child can bring in cash on Monday or pay online by going to mylifetouch.com and use Picture Day ID: RI723008T0

The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is this week! (May 6-May 10) Book Fair will run this week from Monday, 5/6 to Friday, 5/10. Visual and Performing Arts Showcase – May 8 @ 7pm Our Spring Chorus and Orchestra Concert is this Wednesday, May 8th. Come out to this Visual and Performing Arts Showcase. There will also be artwork on display in the cafeteria. The concert begins at 7pm. Families will also be able to shop at the Book Fair. The event is free for all. Family STEAM Night! May 23 @ 5:00 pm Family STEAM Night Celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Thursday May 23rd 5 to 6:30 pm.
