Hello West Rocks!

Thank you for a wonderful first week back from break! It’s hard to believe, but we are already in the final stretch of Autism Acceptance Month.

A huge thank you to our National Junior Honor Society for sponsoring our first-ever Shades of Blue Spirit Week, in support of Autism Awareness and Acceptance. It’s been inspiring to see our students and staff come together to celebrate inclusion and understanding throughout April.

We also welcomed our eighth graders back from an adventure in New York City! Students toured Yankee Stadium, experienced The Outsiders on Broadway, visited the 9/11 Museum, enjoyed a Times Square dinner, and much more. If your student hasn’t already shared, we are currently goal-setting in preparation for our annual Smarter Balanced Assessments in May. This week, your child met with their ELA and math teachers to review their individual targets for growth. We encourage you to check in with them about their goals! 

Mark your calendars! Our annual PTA Pizza Truck Event is this Saturday from 12–3 p.m. Join us for games, music, a gaga tournament, school tours, and much more. Bring your family, your energy, and your school spirit—it’s going to be a great afternoon of fun and community!

Field Trip Announcement for VPA Students!

VPA students are invited to attend an exclusive sneak peek of SpongeBob the Musical at Norwalk High School on Friday, May 2nd.

Trip Details:

  • Cost: $15 (includes ticket and transportation) via cash or check payable to WRMS.
  • Departure: Bus leaves for NHS at approximately 9:00 AM
  • Return: Students will arrive back on campus around 1:00 PM
  • Lunch will be served upon return
  • Sign-Up Deadline: Wednesday, April 30th

Supplies are Limited!
The yearbook staff has placed their final yearbook order and there is now a limited supply of yearbooks available for order. Time is running out, so make sure to order TODAY in order to guarantee you’ll have a yearbook this Spring.

This is the last week to turn in payments for the June 4th trip to Quassy. The cost of the trip is $60, which includes ticket to the park and lunch buffet. Please complete the online permission slip. Students should turn in payment to their homeroom teacher. ALL PAYMENTS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, MAY 2nd. No late forms or payments will be accepted.

Each year, Lifetouch comes to WRMS to take a panoramic photo of the 8th Grade Class. It is a wonderful keepsake!  Our photo will be taken on Tuesday, April 29th. 

You have the ability to purchase the photo. You can place and order one of two ways:

1. Order online at Lifetouch using code: RI724016T0 (The second character is an uppercase i)

OR

2. Complete the paper form that students received in homeroom. The cost is $15 by cash or check payable to Lifetouch.

Photos will be delivered at the end of May. Orders are due by Tuesday, 4/29. No late orders will be accepted.

SPRING BOOK FAIR

It's that time again!

The WRMS Library is hosting its Spring Book Fair from Monday, 5/5 to Friday, 5/9.

All students will be visiting the Book Fair during their ELA classes that week.

PTA UPDATE AND UPCOMING EVENTS

🍕🎶 Join us for Pizza, Music, and Fun! 🎶🍕

Incoming 6th grade families and current WRMS students — come enjoy pizza, lawn games, performances from our WRMS Jazz Band, and a first look at West Rocks!

8th Grade Families – Save the Date! 🎉

Tickets for the 8th Grade Semi-Formal Dance will go on sale starting May 4th and will be available through May 14th!

Tickets will be available for purchase online through our PTA website or by sending payment and a signed permission slip to your student’s homeroom teacher. Please note: A signed permission slip is required for every student attending.

🎟️ $20 Ticket price includes dinner and dessert!

👟 Semi-formal attire with sneakers is encouraged!

We want to make sure every 8th grader who wants to attend can join the celebration. If cost is a concern, please email us confidentially at westrockspta@gmail.com — scholarship support is available.
