READING CHALLENGE!
Reading opens the door to endless adventures, sparks creativity, and helps you understand the world in new ways; making it one of the most powerful and enjoyable skills you can have! It is recommended that students read a minimum of 20 minutes every day!
ELA classes took part in the February Reading Challenge and read articles, books, and had the opportunity to complete a trivia quiz on the information from the article for a prize every Friday.
In addition, class sections competed to have the highest participation rates in article completion. Congratulations to the class winners above! They have earned delicious pizza!
Throughout the month students also had reading tasks to complete through the schoolwide BINGO SHEET. Students can turn the completed Bingo sheet in on Monday March 3rd for a chance to win Apple Air pods! Winner will be announced at the end of the day!
TRAVEL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS!
Coach Voytek: *Take a deep breath. Your West Rock Panthers were down 2 points with 8 seconds left in the championship game. Eighth-grader Mateo Reyes drove down the court and found Deon Brown for a 3-pointer at the buzzard to give your Panthers the win. The noise was deafening, the crowd was raucous, and the energy was pulsating, as your Panthers won their third consecutive Middle School Basketball Championship. It was an incredible season with a tremendous amount of hard work, dedication, and support from the team, school, and community. Thank you everyone for following along this season and for your support. Success is not by accident and the work these young men put in every day was remarkable. I am so proud to be the coach of this team, which has never quit and has supported each other through each step of the journey. What a game and what a season. *Exhale.
