| Hello West Rocks! Quarter 1 of the 2024-2025 school year is officially in the books! It is amazing how quickly time goes. |
Please continue to use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to review your student’s assignments, grades, and attendance. Grades and comments will be posted by the end of the week, and we will send out a notification on how to check the electronic “report card” in your Portal next weekend. Please direct questions about grades to the teacher and attendance questions to your student’s counselor.
We had a successful picture day on Thursday, October 31! The weather was amazing and those students that celebrate Halloween said they had a great night!
Two of our Spanish Language Arts teachers, Mrs. Chimento and Ms. Ramirez, worked with students in our dual language program to create our first ever “Dia de los Muertos” alter in our main lobby. As this is tradition for many of our families, we celebrated the life of the loved ones within our community.
Students and staff were able to bring pictures of loved ones that passed. Check out the picture above! You will also be able to see images on our social media accounts!
We had our first Sport-a-Thon raffle on Friday! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and so much fun for all our students! Please see more information below.

SPORT-A-THON 2024 IS HERE!
Our annual campaign to raise funds for our school is underway! We had our first raffle on Friday…the next raffle will be next week! Students with any amount of donations will be able to spin the wheel for a prize! The wheel is in the cafeteria during lunch waves.
The WRMS Sport-a-thon is our version of a walk-a-thon. Sport-a-thon is our Fall fundraising campaign that begins in October and ends with our Sport-a-thon event on Friday, November 15th. Every student in the school will participate in the Sport-a-thon; however, if you raise at least $10, you will earn extra time outside using the Grit Ninja course, sporting events, and inflatables.
We are competing by grade level…check out the current leaderboard!
Online Donations: We use a platform called GetMovin. Once you register your child, you receive a customized link to share with family and friends. Students can compete for PRIZES!

Prizes and more! There are prizes for the top earners: Ipads, Beats headphones, and more. Students will also be eligible to participate in weekly raffles if they have donations on the next two Fridays. We are competing by grade levels and there is a prize for the top grade!

K-12 MARINE SCIENCE PATHWAY NIGHT @ MARITIME
The Maritime Aquarium is hosting a K-12 Marine Science Pathway Family Night on Wednesday, November 13th from 5:30-8:00pm.
Families of students, teachers, and staff of Jefferson Marine Science Elementary School, West Rocks Middle School, and Brien McMahon High School are welcome to come to this free event to visit our animals, participate in an activity table, and watch a 4D movie!
Advanced registration is strongly recommended.

It's Baby Photo Time for 8th Grade Students! The yearbook staff is hard at work on the 2025 yearbook. We are ready for you to submit your Baby Photo to be included in the yearbook. Baby photos must be submitted using this form.

NATURE'S CLASSROOM
Grade 7 students will have their annual Nature’s Classroom overnight field trip this Wednesday, November 6 – Friday, November 8! Those families should be on the lookout for Parent Square communication from our Grade 7 Team Leader Miss Sabol. We met with students on Friday and will have a virtual parent meeting on Monday evening on our YouTube channel.

This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we need your help! We will need LOTS of homemade breads, muffins, cookies, brownies, etc for our bake sale.
