WRMS Panorama Survey - Families and Students

WRMS Panorama Survey - Families and Students
WRMS Staff

Good Morning West Rocks!

We had an advisory lesson yesterday called “Emotional Barometers.” Students rated how they were feeling and connected those ratings with specific experiences. As students understand the feelings associated with certain emotions, they learn how to respond when they occur. This is part of our advisory curriculum on emotional regulation which has been a focus throughout the year. The curriculum supports our framework in that we want all members of the community to feel safe, successful, and known.

Students will stay in homeroom today, to complete the school level portion of the Panorama Survey. The survey will ask students to rate their experiences on school belonging, climate, engagement, rigorous expectations, teacher-student relationships. The entire survey will last about 30 minutes. On Tuesday, students will remain in homeroom again to complete the social emotional learning competencies portion of the Panorama Survey which should take about 10 minutes to complete. The topics covered are growth mindset and emotional regulation.

Families are asked to participate by completing their own Panorama Survey which is anonymous. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes and has 31 questions*. The topics are school climate, family support, school safety, and school communication. This is important data that we use to drive decisions. The survey link is below, and it is on the West Rocks website under “For Families.”

*Please note that responses to questions are counted in two buckets – favorable or unfavorable. There are 5 possible responses, and the positive 2 responses are favorable. The other 3 responses are unfavorable which includes the middle.

For example, the responses below are from a question on last year’s Panorama Survey. The middle response of “somewhat well” is considered unfavorable. Please keep this in mind when you are answering questions.

Our goal is to have 40% of our families complete the survey! The window closes on March 28. If we meet that goal, each grade level will have additional time at recess prior to April break!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a great day,
