Hello West Rocks! This is the final weekly post of this school year!

Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful dads and father figures—your love, support, and dedication are deeply appreciated and celebrated by our entire school community!

We have officially closed the 2023-2024 school year! Thank you for a great year!

Congratulations to the 239 grade 8 students for their promotion to high school! We had a successful Promotion Ceremony on Tuesday evening. Our student speakers were incredible! Good luck in high school!

We had a great last week of school with celebrations and even a field day for our grade 6-7 students! 

Congratulations to our Norwalk Federation of Teachers (NFT) Scholarship Winners! 

This will be the final post of this school year. Be on the lookout for a summer update that will include some reflections, data on this year, as well as plans and policy updates for the 2024-2025 school year.

Mrs. Nicole Jean is the Norwalk Public Schools Teacher of the Year!

After being awarded our school’s Excellence in Education winner, our Band Director Mrs. Nicole Jean was just named the Teacher of the Year for all of Norwalk Public Schools! Congratulations Mrs. Jean! We are so proud!

She is now eligible to be the Connecticut Teacher of the Year! Congratulations and good luck! Thank you to all of our staff!  The West Rocks faculty and staff did an amazing job this year! Thank you to all for your efforts...and we all wish our students and families a wonderful summer - with some continued learning :) Academics, Programs, and Campaigns Summer Learning Tasks All students must complete these 2024 Summer Learning Tasks before the start of next school year! They all received a hardcopy in ELA class and it is posted on our website under “for students.”  Final Mile @ West Rocks on Thursday, June 13 – Running Club!  Congratulations to all our students that finished their running season with the “Final Mile” on Thursday afternoon at West Rocks! It was a great experience for all!  A few pictures from the race are above! Watch this quick video of the start!  CLIP: Start of Final Mile! Current Grade 6 (Next Year’s Grade 7) – Nature’s Classroom in the Fall!  During the 2024-25 school year, 7th graders (current 6th graders) will be attending Nature's Classroom at Camp Eisner in Great Barrington, MA on Wednesday November 6 - Friday November 8th. We are very excited to share this exciting educational experience with students and families.  There were student and family meetings last week. Please complete this interest form for your student if they plan to attend.  NC Interest Form Fall 2024 From the Nurse’s Office Students that just completed grade 6 physicals have physicals that are due! Please refer to the ongoing Parent Square reminders to make sure your student does not risk attending school!  Direct questions to our school nurse Michelle Rybnick (rybnickm@norwalkps.org). Summer Program @ WRMS - High Dosage Tutoring Program in July Based on specific academic criteria, students have been invited to attend a High Dosage Tutoring Program this summer at West Rocks. Transportation is provided, and there will be literacy, math, and enrichment.
