WRMS Staff

Hello West Rocks!

Let’s finish strong! We officially have just a few days left, and I know our students and staff will continue to show pride, kindness, and focus as we close out the 2025–2026 school year.

This is our last weekly update of the school year.

Thank you for your partnership, support, patience, and encouragement throughout the year. We are grateful for our West Rocks students, families, and staff, and we are proud of all that we accomplished together.

Happy Father’s Day tomorrow to all of our fathers, grandfathers, caregivers, and father figures in the West Rocks community.

I hope everyone had a meaningful Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is a time to celebrate freedom, reflection, and continued progress.

  • A special shout-out to our 8th grade students Julian and Deon for sharing a thoughtful message about the holiday on Panther News on Thursday.

Congratulations to our 8th grade students on a wonderful Promotion Ceremony Monday evening! Our student speakers were outstanding, the attendance was excellent, and the entire event was a special celebration of our students and their time at West Rocks.

We also had several meaningful events during their final days, and we wish our 8th graders the very best as they prepare for high school. Good luck, Class of 2030!

We also had our Smarter Balanced Celebration on Thursday! Students enjoyed a dunk tank for each grade level, inflatable games, pickleball, extra recess, and a raffle with World Cup items, jerseys, Legos, and more. Students who were projected to meet their growth goals received extra time outside and raffle tickets as recognition for the goal-setting conferences, reflection meetings, and hard work they completed in ELA and math throughout the year.

Our 7th graders also had a great day of activities on Thursday. Students participated in a variety of options, including bingo, volleyball, soccer, Just Dance, crafts, math and board games, and science labs with owl pellets. Thank you to our staff members who helped plan and supervise these activities, including Rojas, Novotny, Picasso, Marangos, Voytek, Young, Termotto, Labadia, Ganim, Simone, Gacesa, DiNapoli, Alcantara, and Charles.

Our Grade 6 Awards Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of our students! Thank you to all of the families who joined us, and congratulations to the students recognized for PAWS, attendance, and many other areas of growth, effort, and achievement.

Please see one picture above and look out for more highlights on our school social media pages!

We officially have 3 more days of school this year. Monday is the last full day of school. Tuesday and Wednesday are 2-hour early dismissal days, with dismissal at 12:50 p.m. Please check the Norwalk Public Schools website for the 2026–2027 school calendar. The first day of school for students is August 26, 2026: https://www.norwalkps.org/about/district-overview/official-district-calendar

Families of incoming 6th graders and next year’s 7th and 8th graders will receive a separate message about summer learning expectations for reading and math. This will include a book list, Khan Academy expectations, and an option for a hardcopy math packet. The information will also be posted on our school website and communicated in ELA and math classes.

Thank you again for a great year at West Rocks. We are proud of our students, thankful for our families, and excited to finish the year together on a positive note.

Have a great rest of your weekend and summer!

Adam Reynolds

Proud Principal, West Rocks Middle School

  • Congratulations to the newest inductees into the WRMS chapter of the National Junior Honor Society! The induction ceremony will take place Tuesday morning, and we will share highlights and pictures on our school social media pages.

  • Grade 7 will also celebrate its awards ceremony on Wednesday morning, so please look out for more highlights and pictures from that event as well.

PRIDE PARADE

June serves as Pride Month, a time globally recognized for honoring LGBTQ+ communities.

On the morning of June 22, 2026 West Rocks will host our annual Pride Parade. Participation is exclusive to students who have officially registered for the event.

The parade will consist of a lap around the school building, concluding with students gathering near the turf field to hear presentations from several student volunteers. Students interested in participating can sign up HERE.

YEAR-END DEVICE COLLECTION

Students who still have not returned their device must do so on Monday, June 22nd.

Important Note Regarding Fees:

  • Missing Chargers: There is a $15 replacement fee for unreturned chargers. That fee will be entered into PowerSchool at the end of the day on Monday.

  • Device Damages: Families may be charged for the cost of repairs if a device is returned damaged. IT will repair devices over the summer. Students in Grade 6 and 7 may come back to school in August with fees in PowerSchool.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our technology in great shape!

GRADE 8 UPDATES

Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

What a fantastic week it was! We celebrated our students by kicking things off with our Pre-Promotion Party last Friday. We raffled off 35 prizes and students left with swag bags! On Monday, we formally celebrated with the wonderful Promotion ceremony. A special shout out to our student speakers!!!

On Tuesday, our wonderful 7th-grade families hosted a promotion breakfast, and the students enjoyed signing their yearbooks. On Wednesday, we recognized their achievements with our awards ceremony, followed by an entertaining visit from a magician. Finally, we wrapped up the festivities on Thursday with a fun-filled series of indoor and outdoor activities and our special SBA celebration.

Stay tuned to our social media channels over the next few weeks as we share highlights of all of the activities!
