Hello West Rocks! 

We did a great job the last two weeks of unleashing our inner Superhero! All students tried their best on the Smarter Balanced ELA and Math test! Thank you to those families that supported our efforts at home. We will get our initial results soon and name those students that met their growth goal! They will be eligible for our SBA Celebration in June! 

Grade 8 students have one more to go! We will take the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) Assessment next Wednesday and Thursday in the morning. This impacts their high school science class, so please encourage them to do their best! 

Thank you to our PTA for providing ice cream sundaes and extra recess on Thursday for our grade 7! They had the highest participation in the raffle, they won! 

Thank you to everyone that came out to our district's NPS First Book Event on Saturday! It was a great success! 

Thank you to all those families that donated to our annual Clothing Drive! Every piece makes a difference.

Our grade 8 students had a great time at Friday night's Semi-Formal Dance! Thank you to the PTA for hosting the event! Check out a few pics above!

A couple of quick reminders as we move through the spring season:

• Cell Phones and AirPods must remain in student lockers during the school day. If a device is confiscated, a parent or guardian will be contacted to pick it up from the main office.
• Dress Code: As the weather warms up, please help us reinforce expectations around appropriate attire. This includes ensuring shorts are of suitable length and shoulders are covered.

Students can purchase tickets during the day or families can stop in.

We know the end of the school year can get busy, so we’ve put together one easy-to-use calendar with all the important events in one place — from concerts and field trips to assignment deadlines and promotion activities.

BOOK RETURNS!

Thank you to all for supporting the Spring Book Fair! The kids had a blast and it was so much fun seeing the students excited about reading! Thank you again and we will see you in the Fall. 

The last day for 8th grade students to return all library books is by Monday, 5/19.

After this date, a lost book fine will be assigned in Power School and must be cleared or paid in order to receive promotion tickets.

Students can check their Destiny accounts by doing the following: 
-Go to Classlink
-Click on Destiny Discover
-Select My Stuff tab
-Click on both Checkouts and Fines to review account details

Students are only required to return or pay for books from the WRMS Library.

Grade 6 Update - Deadline Extended: Mystic Aquarium Field Trip Forms & Payment Due May 20

Hello 6th Grade Families,

We’re excited for our upcoming 6th-grade End-of-Year field trip to Mystic Aquarium on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025! This promises to be a fun and educational experience for our students.

🗓️ Updated Deadline:

We’ve extended the deadline to submit permission slips and payments to Tuesday, May 20th. Please be sure to have everything turned in by then!

💵 Cost: $25 (cash, check payable to West Rocks Middle School, or money order)

📍 Location: Mystic Aquarium, Mystic, CT

🕣 Departure: 8:30 AM

🕒 Return: 3:00 PM – Please plan to pick up your child at school, as buses will not be available after our return.

🥪 Lunch: Students may bring a bag lunch or request one to be provided.

🚌 Transportation: Coach buses

📄 Permission Slip: A new permission slip is required. Please use this [LINK] to complete the online form.

💵 Once the online permission slip is submitted, please send the $25 payment to your child’s homeroom teacher.
