We had a really great week! It was filled with the book fair, high school visits (NHS AP Ambassadors), Smarter Balanced Assessments, intramural games, GEM conference...and more! Our Orchestra and Chorus Spring Concert was Wednesday. Check out the pictures above!
Thank you to our PTA for an incredible Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! It was filled with treats, activities, and a catered lunch on Friday! Amazing!
We have the math portion of the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) this week. Just like reading, this is the state test that students demonstrate their progress according to State Standards in math.
- Be sure your student gets a good night's sleep and comes with a charged Chromebook ready to do their best!
As we prepare to close out the year, please continue to be on the look out for grade level leader communication and check our website for events and important dates.
Our annual Spring Clean-up that was scheduled for this Saturday was canceled. We are looking for a new date. I apologize to those students that came to the school because of the mix-up.

GRADE 6 FIELD TRIP - MYSTIC AQUARIUM

Just a quick reminder! Our 6th-grade End-of-Year field trip is to Mystic Aquarium on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025. We’re excited for this educational and fun experience!

The deadline to submit payments and permission slips is quickly approaching—please be sure to turn them in by Thursday, May 15th!

Cost: $25 (cash, check to West Rocks Middle School, or money order)

Location: Mystic Aquarium, Mystic, CT

Departure: 8:30 AM

Return: 3:00 PM — Please make arrangements to pick up your child at school, as buses will not be available due to our return after regular dismissal.

Lunch: Bag lunch provided, or students may bring their own

Transportation: Coach buses

Once you complete the online permission slip, please send the $25 payment to your student’s homeroom teacher.

Wednesday, May 14th is the last day to purchase tickets for the 8th Grade Semi-Formal.
Friday, May 16th | 6:30-9:00PM

Tickets: Available online or turn in cash/check to your homeroom teacher. A signed permission slip is also required to attend.

This is our last meeting of the year, and we’ll be voting on the 2025–2026 PTA Budget. We’ll also share updates on 8th grade end-of-year events, including graduation and celebrations.
