Weekly Update 11/8/25

Weekly Update 11/8/25
WRMS Staff

Hello West Rocks!

Thank you for another great week at West Rocks! We had an outstanding turnout on Election Day at the West Rocks polls, which made for a very successful PTA Bake Sale. Thank you to everyone who contributed baked goods, volunteered time, or stopped by in support, it truly makes a difference!

Outdoor Classroom Field Trips
Our Grade 7 students had an incredible experience this week during their overnight field trip to Great Barrington, MA! For students who stayed on campus, our team planned a full day of Outdoor Classroom experiences right here at West Rocks. Students explored nature through team-building games, science experiments, and problem-solving challenges. It was a wonderful week of hands-on learning…check out a few pictures above!

Grade 6 Movie Night
A big thank you to our Grade 6 team for hosting a fun and successful Movie Night! Students came out to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters and enjoyed snacks, friends, and a great time together.

No Shave November
November is No Shave November, and we’re proud to support this awareness campaign for men’s health at West Rocks. Many teachers and staff will participate by not shaving throughout the month, and we’ll be offering fake mustaches and bracelets for students to join in the fun. Thank you for helping us raise awareness, just as we supported women’s health in October!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Have a wonderful weekend!

With Panther Pride,
Adam Reynolds
Principal, West Rocks Middle School

SOCIAL WORKERS

"Gathering Gratitude"

SEL Focus: Positive Thinking & Gratitude As we head into the season of thankfulness, let's focus on what we're grateful for. Practicing gratitude helps us appreciate what we have and can improve our overall mood and outlook.

Tip: Start a "Gratitude Jar" or "Gratitude Chain." Give everyone in the family a slip of paper each day to write down one thing they're thankful for. At the end of the month, read them aloud. You'll be amazed at the wonderful things you've gathered together!

Activity: "Three Good Things" at Dinner

  • How-To: During dinner (or a time when the family is together), have everyone share three good things that happened that day, no matter how small.

  • Goal: Shifts focus from worries or stresses to positive moments.

  • Tip: Encourage your middle schooler to be specific. Instead of "lunch was good," try "I'm grateful my friend shared a funny meme with me at lunch."

The program will meet on Mondays after school from 3-4pm in the West Rocks gym on December 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and January 5th, 12th, 26th, and February 2nd. There is a 24 student limit on a first come, first serve basis.
