Hello West Rocks! Thank you to our PTA for a super fun Halloween Dance! Congrats to our winners of the costume contest! Check out the pics above!    We had our School Quality Review and received positive feedback! Thank you to everyone that completed the survey. When the full report is available, we will share it with the community.    Thank you to everyone that wore pink Friday on the third Friday of October! Each Friday, we will wear pink to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer.    Looking forward to seeing students, staff, and families at Sherwood Island for the Making Strides Walk Against Breast Cancer later this morning!  We will meet at 9:30 later this morning! You are invited to join the West Rocks team! More information below.

SPORTS UPDATE

Travel Football
The West Rock Football Team remains unbeaten defeating Roton by the score of 20-0. The Panthers continue their streak of not letting up any points through four games.  They continue to play well as a team and all players are contributing. The next game will beat Nathan Hale on Wednesday.

Travel Hockey
The Girls Field Hockey Team has gotten off to a great start! The team's current record is 2-1-1 at the half way point of the season. The team is looking to make a strong push leading into the second half of the season.

GRADE LEVELS

Movie Night! Sponsored by Grade 6 - October 25 @ 6pmThe 6th Grade Class will sponsor a Movie Night on Friday, October 25th at 6:00 pm. All West Rocks Students are invited to attend.
 
The permission slips have been sent home with 6th graders, and are available during lunch next week. You can also access a permission slip here. Refreshments will be served.

Grade 6 families, have been contacted to donate food and drink items for sale, the sign up sheet can be accessed here.

Grade 7 Nature's Classroom 
We are having a MANDATORY meeting for parents and students that are registered on TUESDAY October 22 at 7pm at West Rocks. We are still in need of CHAPERONES. Please let me know if you would be interested in chaperoning for 1 or 2 of the days. For additional information, please reach out to Miss Sabol (sabolr@norwalkps.org). 
 
Grade 8
Grade 8 Families are invited to hear about our overnight class trip this Tuesday at 6:30pm. The broadcast will be live on Panther News and will remain on YouTube for viewing at a later point in time. Please visit our channel or use this link to view.

STUDENT SURVEY

2024 Norwalk Youth Survey
Before the end of October, students will complete the 2024 Norwalk Youth Survey, which has been authorized by the Board of Education (BOE). The survey will be given to 7th through 12th graders and is planned for the last week of October.

DRAMA CLUB

Congratulations to all students who have participated in the audition process over the last few weeks for Shrek Jr. Check the Drama Club Google Classroom for role assignments and a form for students to complete about scheduling and availability. Our first rehearsal will be Tuesday, Oct. 22nd for all students.

Halloween Dance
Thank you to everyone who attended our annual Halloween Dance! We had an amazing turnout and the kids seemed to really have a great time! We would like to thank:

• Our NJHS Volunteers who helped us set up and decorate!
• Our parent volunteers who helped with set up & clean up, and those who helped chaperoned!
• All the families who donated items for our concession stand!
• Our teachers and staff who volunteered to work the event!

Thank you ALL for helping us make this another successful event!

Don Carmelo’s Giveback Night - 10/21 to 10/23 Take a break from cooking dinner on 10/21, 10/22 or 10/23 and grab dinner from Don Carmelo’s Mexican Grill! Please don’t forget to mention West Rocks so that a portion of your food order will be donated back to the WRMS PTA!

Election Day Bake Sale - 11/5 This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we need your help! We will need LOTS of homemade breads, muffins, cookies, brownies, etc for our bake sale. We will also need volunteers to help man the table from 6am - 8pm.
