WRMS Weekly Update 11.11.23

WRMS Weekly Update 11.11.23
WRMS Staff

Hello West Rocks! I hope you are having a nice Veterans Day. Veterans Day is a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. We thanked our staff that are veterans on Thursday – Mr. Keeling, Mr. McKinney, and Mr. Gautier. Thank you to all of our veterans. With service in mind, we have our annual Fall Clean-up and Planting tomorrow morning (Sunday, Nov 12) 9am-12pm at West Rocks. We will pick up garbage, clean-up the leaves, weeds and other growth, plant a few perennials, and generally make the school look great! All members of the community are invited. All students can earn 3 service hours and there will be a sign-in sheet. Students can also come for a portion of the time if that is all that they are available. Families and staff are also welcome to come pitch in. We are only a few days away from the 2023 Sport-a-Thon! As you can see from the picture, we are 62% to our goal! The race is neck and neck for the highest homeroom and individual fundraiser. All students will participate on this Friday, Nov 17. Students that raise at least $10 get an extra 30 minutes! Our Sport-a-Thon includes multiple inflatables, a rock-climbing wall, Gaga Pit, games on the turf, and more! T-minus 5 school days! Let’s go WRMS! Have a great week and hope to see you tomorrow morning for the clean-up! The weather looks perfect! Adam Reynolds Principal, West Rocks Middle School PS. As a faculty, we have focused on utilizing Parent Square as our primary form of communication with families. Please download the app, take advantage of the “appreciate” heart (teachers are looking for those! 😊), and the comment function to easily have a conversation with staff.

To earn extra time at the event, students must have raised $10 or more. All students will participate, so dress appropriately for outdoors. Let's work together to make our goal of $15,000!
