An Important Message from Mr. Reynolds:

    Hello West Rocks!

There’s about one month to go in the 2018-2019 school year.

This past week we collected money for SMA research. SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. It is the number one genetic cause of death for infants. This directly impacts the West Rocks community as the son of one of our teachers is living with SMA - Ms. Wax’s son Cubby Wax. The house that collected the most money to donate to research wins a popsicle party next week!

Next week we begin SBAC testing. This is the most important assessment of the year. Not only is this a public measure (It is a data point on how we are evaluated by the state and nation.), but it also impacts placement for next year - both in middle and high school. You will find the schedule HERE. Please emphasize the importance of this test to your child and encourage maximum effort!

We distributed High Honors and Honors Certificates this afternoon in homeroom. Congratulations! Find the complete list HERE and it will be posted on the website.

The grades 7-8 band and orchestra go to Six Flags on Friday!

Save the Date! Our West Rocks Dodgeball Tournament fundraiser is Thursday, May 23 at 3:30.The registration form will go home on Monday and can also be found HERE . Students are going to start forming their teams...and there will be food trucks at the event!
